Funny, my 2019 code worked at InstallTurboTax.com, where Intuit says "Enter your license code to confirm your purchase and retrieve your download." Intuit accepted the code from the CD box then and gave me the 2019 software to download. However, when the software asked for the *exact same code*, the code is now rejected and the software is useless.
Clearly they have the codes still saved in their computer system somewhere but they refuse to either (a) authorize re-installed software or (b) eliminate the need for an authorization code. Instead they make their software useless. They intentionally "brick" it.
This is a reminder that one size does not fit all. There is still a need for people to use TurboTax even if refunds are not possible (which is what the 3-year deadline is about).
P.S. I have a Mac. I will have to see if there is a hack for that.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, editions prior to 2019 (which do not utilize a code) still function.
It would be great if Intuit could simply remove the need for an authorization code for software that is no longer supported (such as 2019) but that may require a rewrite.
I read all the advice given below but none worked... called the tech support and was told point blank that support for 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 etc has been REMOVED. Permanently. No reason given why. I asked how could I redo my 2020 and 2019 and 2018 tax returns if the I cannot use the product. I was told they would refund me the money and asked for my email. They emailed me a refund form. Will see if I get the money back. Moving to the competition, HR Block here we come again. I am beyond words after being an Intuit customer from Day1 - back when they were a spreadsheet. Cancelling my subscription and moving on.

Hopefully, you are not owed refunds for those years because if that is the reason you intend to "redo" the returns for those years, you will not receive the refunds.
My 2019 TT now works. Thanks KRWTX
This is superb. Worked great for the Federal taxes. Congratulations and thanks to all those who may have had a hand in developing this solution but special thanks to KRWTX for outlining the steps very clearly. Requires some computer savvy and understanding the idea behind what is being done because of the system you are using. Just make sure you do not update TT even if asks you to (skip it) in step 12 after you have edited the dll file. It will update the dll file you just edited to what it was before.
However, I have trouble downloading the State software. When you say switch to State which has Amount, I don't get it. When I switch to States, and ask to download the software it throws an error. I was able to bypass it by choosing an option "Having trouble getting your free state? We can help you here." When I choose that and pick the State I want, it still wants me to enter a "State Product Confirmation Number". I don't know what it is and it is not the Licence Code either. It will not let you proceed without a valid confirmation number. Not sure if Intuit can give it to me since they say they have no support for 2019 software! So I am stuck!
How about for the Mac
Bless you, KRWTX! Those instructions worked a treat, and I was able to get my return in the mail.
Thank you! the re-compiler worked fine, and I disabled the auto updates as there was no more updates for 2019 anyways, but in the event that you accidentally trigger an update, save a copy of the edited dll file and then just replace it before re-launching TT. Thank you again for the developers at grubhub that found the workaround, this same could have been developed by TT as we are all legal owners of these licenses, but they choose to ignore us instead and instruct their support to not give us any workaround. It is enough stress to having to deal with the IRS on an old return/amendment; we do not have the luxury to be stressed by turbo tax as well. I hope someone actually listens and makes future support less squared and more flexible at least for future amendments, which are out of our control and more in the hands of the IRS. I would say further that a 5 year support window should be enough to deal with most of future issues regarding accepted returns, the program should allow us to at least open, reprint and amend a previous return for the next years in case the IRS requests it, specially given the agency's slowness in processing our filings.
@KRWTX Thank you ! Thank you!
So, I guess those of us that are techno challenged, are SOL.
I tried to do such a thing once, (line coding or whatever its called) it didn't work out. WTH. Any advice?
