When you e-file 1099 for a client, do you send both the state and federal via e-file or does the state 1096 need to be mailed to the state.

I need to know if last year i was supppose to mail the state 1096 or did you e-file it for me.

When you e-file 1099 for a client, do you send both the state and federal via e-file or does the state 1096 need to be mailed to the state.

The online Quick Employer Forms program (available with TurboTax Self-Employed) is only e-filing a copy to the Federal government.  As noted in the Quick Employer Forms FAQ page (see link below), each state's requirements vary, but most do not require the forms to be submitted. Therefore, you will need to check your state government's Web-site for information on how they require their forms and/or what is the mailing address of where to send the forms, if required.

Turbo tax does not state this anywhere in their notes, so now I have two years worth of state 1096 that were not submitted and you had better double check you federal id because I see that the software entered the incorrect federal tax id for my business. It entered each individualsSS# as the federal ID Are you going to stand behind me. I paid the extra for the back up.
