I received a 1099-MISC form from DRAFTKINGS- an online sports gambling site. Apparently Sports gambling is not considered gambling- where do I file this?

The only place I see where a 1099-MISC is applicable is Small Business/ Self employed which is not what my DRAFTKINGS form is from. Please advise as to where I input this other income that is not considered gambling however it was gambling winnings

The best place to put this 1099 is under ''Other Common Income''.  It can be found in the Wages & Income section, and I have attached a screenshot.  After you enter the 1099-MISC, TurboTax will ask you to describe the reason you received it.  Enter ''prize winnings''.  Click continue.  On the next screen, click 'This was prize winnings'.   This amount will be treated the same as gambling winnings.

TurboTax will call it gambling winnings on your 1040 even though you list it as prize winnings.  This means that you can deduct the amount of any gambling losses up to the amount of your gambling/prize winnings if you itemize deductions.

How do you go about claiming the losses then? I don't see where 1 can do that, I had this same question\

After you enter your gambling winnings, TurboTax will ask you about the related losses.

hmm interesting, it didn't ask me when I entered it as other income and a 1099-misc selecting prize money. The only time it asks for losses if you specifically put it as gambling winnings but then it says it is supposed to be a different form

Yes, this Q was last year, and TT does it differently.  Normally gambling winnings are reported on W-2G, but not always.
