that's great, except the IRS just made this announcement yesterday saying that all returns filed 'after 5/16' would reflect the correct calculation

Sorry ... that would explain a lot of IRS refunds that have come out lately.

Just to clarify, unless you sold real estate that was depreciated (up to 25%) or sold a 'collectible' (up to 28%) AND your tax bracket is less than 25%\28%, it will not affect your tax return.

So it only MIGHT affect you if your Schedule D has something on Line 18 or Line 19.
