I'm not posting a question - I'm posting the solution here about the error I ran into when trying to e-file my New York State tax return.
I made it all the way to the last screen but when I hit 'Submit' to transmit my tax returns, the program kept glitching on a 1099 form we received and kept saying that 'The amount in box 14a cannot be greater than or equal to the amount in Box 16' (there was no Box '14a' on our form). Box 16 on the 1099 was blank - this is what was provided to us directly by Fidelity.
I tried three times to connect with a Technical Support Specialist, I kept getting disconnected/hung up on; the TurboTax program AI 'Digital Assistant' was useless. I finally managed to get through on the third try and the Support Specialist I spoke to said there was an error in the program and that I had to type the amount shown in Box 1 of the 1099 into Box 16. I did and thankfully that resolved the loop, and the program finally submitted our tax returns.

CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PAID FOR YOUR HOME & BUSINESS TAX PROGRAM, PLUS LIVE TAX EXPERT ADVICE ($60) PLUS ANOTHER $60 FOR AUDIT DEFENSE SHOULDN'T ALSO HAVE TO PAY TO ADD 'LIVE PLUS' OR WHATEVER IT IS - YOUR SYSTEM DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PURCHASE STATUS OF CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE ALREADY PAID! NOT COOL!!
