If it is rejected you can go back into the personal information section to correct the Date of Birth and then e-file.

Once in awhile there is a mismatch because the IRS has an incorrect date of birth in the system for someone.  Your spouse needs to check and make sure the Social Security system has the correct date of birth on record for her.  If SS has incorrect information they have to correct it so it will also go to the IRS and match in the IRS system.  Meanwhile if you are up against a SSN mismatch and cannot overcome it, you will need to print, sign and mail your return instead of e-filing it.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
