You don't have to report anything. There is no special form to fill out. So long as you withdraw the required amount by the due date, then you are fine. The IRS receives a notice through form 5329 filed by your brokerage or bank.
Thankyou for your reply.
A little confused.
Are you speaking to Arizona Form 140PY (part year resident)?
RMD's have to be reported in TurboTax and one would expect it to be carried to the Arizona Form 140PY but nothing shows on the AZ Form 140PY.
Most likely because a part year resident has to allot what ever portion is income while a resident of AZ.

Did you answer the questions in the federal return that asks about RMD? When completing your 1099-R, you should have answered regarding what you did with the distribution, and what was the RMD amount. That's the information that should flow to your Arizona return.
Thanks for your reply...
Yes I did enter the 1099-R when I did the Fed income and it did carry through to 140PY in the column 2019 Federal Return. The portion for the Arizona amount was blank.
I concluded that I must enter the AZ portion manually. While TTax knows the dates of our AZ residency, the dates of the RMD are not an entry when entering the 1099-R data under Federal Income.
As often the case, the solution is not complex once you figure it out. (The Instructions don't mention RMD's for other income in line 22)
Thanks again
Jerry
