Tax return for 2025 is gone

Same issue as many others.  I did 98% of my tax return a week ago and saved it.  On a windows 11 PC, used the Premier download.  Today I tried to go in and update, and the 2025 return is not there!!!  Looked in TT help, and TONS of people are having the same issue.  No answer or solution from TT.  I've tried the recommended searches, recycle bin, etc.  NOTHING IS THERE.  Guess I have to start over, and taxes are due today.  Fortunately, I don't think I owe...  This is ridiculous that we are getting no help from TurboTax.

If you prepare your return in TurboTax Desktop, the default location for saving your tax file is Documents > TurboTax.  Every time you close the program it saves there, unless you used 'Save As' to save it elsewhere.  You may see backup copies with a 'tilde' sign in front.

When you open the program, are there no tiles there to Continue from 'File > Open Tax Return'?

Absolutely not.  I scanned the whole computer, recycle bin, cloud storage (in case I inadvertently saved it there) for any .tax2025 file and there are NONE.  I even got an IT expert from Microcenter to log onto my computer and search for any such files that were hidden somewhere.  NOTHING.  I guess I have to start over rather than input only 3 remaining bits of info.  Hours to go.  Hope I don't owe, because now I'm not going to make the filing deadline.

Some more ideas…..

Did you search your whole computer for all files ending in .tax2025 etc?And check the recycle bin and your backups.  Do you use any backup programs?   Check in One Drive, Drop Box, etc.  It should be in your Documents then in the Turbo Tax folder.  Also if you have multiple Windows user accounts, log into each one and do the search for the *.tax2025 data file from within each one and checking the Recycle Bin in each one.

If you don't have the main .tax file you might have one that starts with a Tilde sign ~ like  "~your name.tax2025".  That file is if your computer crashes or your real file gets lost or deleted or corrupt so you can restore it.

Don't know if this will help any Turbo Tax users but one Quicken user found them......

What I found was that my Quicken Data files ended up in the One-drive Recycle bin. Not sure how, but I found them there.  I placed the files back onto the laptop and brought the files into Quicken and now have all my data back.
