Richard passed away on 1/27/22. I had called Turbo and IRS re him passing away but was advised since he died in 2022 but not an issue due to the filing taxes for 2021.
E filed tax 3/31/22
Received a letter from IRS on 4/21/22 stating needed copy of death certificate. I sent by certified mail as requested. Which was received on 4/28/22.
. On 5/13/22 I did contact IRS and stated to date no record of items. I needed to callback at a later date.
I have numerous times to contact but always state all lines busy. AND check on line states return is still being processed.
I would like to know if they received the necessary correspondence and when to expect the refund.
Please advise if any suggestions.
Thank you
Carolyn (Surviving spouse)

Hi Carolyn - so sorry to hear about your loss.
Typically when the IRs requests additional information, it delays the processing of the return as it is being reviewed. Returns such as yours may be processed within 90-120 days. Unfortunately, once the return is held for review and additional information is requested, it is usually delayed.
You can check the status of your refund at:
