System will not accept military retirement pay input

Do you mean that you are not able to download your IRS form 1099-R from DFAS?  Or something else?  Please clarify.

In TurboTax Online, follow these steps to report IRS form 1099-R

  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Wages & income.
  • Scroll down to Retirement Plans Social Security.  Click the down arrow to the right.
  • Click Start / Revisit to the right of IRA 401K Pension Plan Withdrawals.
  • At the screen Did you get a 1099-R in 2025?, select Yes.
  • At the screen Choose all the situations that apply to you, make selection and Continue.
  • You will be given options:
  •      to connect with your financial accounts,
  •      to upload your form, or
  •      type it in myself.

@jrhebbe2

Since DFAS does not make the special files that allow you to directly import the data from DFAS into TTX.

You should select "Type it in myself"

(my opinion) I recommend you do NOT attempt to upload a Picture or PDF into the software....too many problems occur as the software "attempts" to interpret what it sees.  (someday it will be flawless, but not so far)

Forget the remark above.  The major problem was that I was confronted with a series of questions for which the answer was to choose between a check mark or a check mark with a box around it.  Both situations contained a check mark.  When I telephoned an Intuit rep, he was provided access to my screen.  I was surprised to learn that what he saw was not the same as what I saw...on the very same screen.  He said he saw were check marks  or empty boxes.  I had no empty boxes at all.  WIndows 11.  Up to date.

I am in the process of returning the product.  Paying someone else to do my taxes.
