My daughter gets survivors social security benefits. She doesn’t work and has no other income. I file for her as a dependent on my taxes. Do I need to report her benefits on my taxes since she’s my dependent? Or does she needs to file her own taxes and can’t be filed as my dependent?

If Social Security survivor benefits are your daughter's only income she does not have to file a tax return. You do not report her benefits on your tax return, so the survivor benefits do not get reported anywhere. You can claim her as a dependent if she meets all the requirements.

Having no other income her social security is not taxed. You don’t report her income on your return and if otherwise qualified you can claim her as a dependent.
