state tax refund info confusing

I filed my federal (I owe) and I selected "deduct from checking" and provided my bank routing info.

But when completing my State Return I noticed it automatically deducted what I owe the federal from my CA Refund, and it states: Your Total Refund: $,$$$ which is minused my Federal Tax Due..

You're OK....that was just an FYI page of the net result for the year.....that is a page that TTX sorely needs to get rid of as it confuses a lot of people.

The State refund and the Federal payment are still  done entirely separate from one another.....even the other way around too...a Fed refund cannot /will not be auto-redirected to pay the state if you owed CA some more   $$.
