My state return has been rejected twice (Federal was accepted on first try). Error message is "There was an error processing your Pennsylvania return due to missing Payment Amount for Direct Debit of State Tax Payment. Please double check your entries." Turbotax says in the email about the rejection "Once you've opened your return in TurboTax, the details about what's causing the problem will be displayed. From there we can walk you through making the updates you need and help you e-file your return." But there are no such "details about what's causing the problem displayed" in Turbotax! So I cannot figure out how on earth to fix this.
Can anyone help?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If the error you are getting says that it's due to missing Payment Amount for direct debit of state Tax Payment. You will need to go back to the section where you entered your information to pay your Pennsylvania balance due.
Please make sure you have all of the information entered correctly: 1. Routing Number (9 digits) 2. Account Number 3. Valid Payment date 4. International ACH Transactions question answered.
If you have no tax due, then uncheck the "Direct Debit" option from the "Info Worksheet" under "Pennsylvania Individual" available under the "Forms" tab, located in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen.
Also, make sure the correct direct debit checkbox is chosen, depending on whether the filing is for the return. Make the appropriate changes and re-submit this return electronically. However, if the reject continues, you may want to file this return via U.S. Mail. To file your state return, print it and mail to the appropriate taxing authority.
