My wife and I married late October of 2021. Prior to our marriage, she was living elsewhere and due to her employer not providing medical benefits and her low salary, she had to purchase insurance from the Health Insurance Marketplace. Her ACA insurance was terminated once we were married and she could get on my employer-provided insurance. I am at the point in TurboTax where it asks if I had received a 1095-A, and when I view it in "forms", it lists me AND my wife, rather than just her. Additionally, because of our joint income, we have to pay back all the premium tax credits even though her income was low for the majority of the year. Should I answer "yes I had ACA insurance anytime during 2021", and has anyone else encountered this problem before with paying back all the premium tax credits.

At the screen Let us know if these situations apply to you, did you select I got married?
If you got married during 2021 and received a premium tax credit in advance as a discount on your health insurance, TurboTax needs to know which month you got married and who was covered by each Marketplace policy you and your spouse had. This is required to accurately calculate the premium tax credit you qualify for in 2021.
Is your spouse the only individual covered under the insurance policy? Have you considered filing married filing separately?
Thanks! My wife was the only individual covered under the policy. We tried filing separately and it's not beneficial for us.
