Why is my refund only saying 1000 dollars but at first it was saying I was getting back 3,987

You may have entered a tax information that caused the refund amount to change. If you are not sure what it is then you can cancel and start again. Here's the information below on how to start all over again.

Can I deduct my homeowners insurance

Yes, you can deduct a portion of your homeowners insurance.  This deduction is considered an indirect expense and is a percent based on the percentage  your home is used for your daycare business. 

This link Publication 587 Business Use of Your Home (Including Use by Daycare Providers) has specific information for daycare providers on page 16.
