I sold a rental property in 2018 at huge loss, creating a negative AGI .
So, I was hoping to carryover the loss and offset my other ordinary income over in 2019 and future years.
I did it through Turbo Tax Premier, it shows in the the federal carryover worksheet, as
Nonrecaptured net Section 1231 losses from 2018, which it doesn't seem to do anything in 2019 Tax Return unless I have another Section 1231 gain.
** It shows blank on 14a. Net operating loss available to carry forward Did I do something wrong in 2018?
Queation 1.
I was told that TurboTax does not calculate NOL. Is that why 14a. shows blank?
Question 2.
If yes, Can I just go ahead use form 1045 to calculate Net Operating Loss and apply NOL manually in 2019, and in futures?
any advice is helpful, HUGE THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Question 1: NOL is out of scope for the program.
From Situations Not Supported by Turbo Tax
Net Operating Loss: If after completing your tax return you have a negative amount on Form 1040, line 7, and you had a loss from a business activity such as those reported on Schedules C, E, F, or resulting from dispositions on Form 4797, or sustained a casualty loss, you may have a Net Operating Loss (NOL). The program does not calculate the amount of NOL to be carried back or forward to another year. To determine your NOL, if any, refer to Form 1045, Schedule A (not included with this program). Also refer to IRS Publication 536 for details about the NOL calculation.
Question 2: yes but I would recommend pub 536.
