Yesterday I read an article in Newsweek about an extension that was granted for the year 2019 deadline. It has prompted me to do my 2019 tax return and I am wondering if Turbo Tax Deluxe (old version) takes into account earned tax credits. I have used Turbo Tax software in the past but I will admit to not being any kind of an expert. In fact I don't even know what an earned tax credit is. In the past the software walked a person like me step by step though the entire process. In fact it did a better job than any tax account had done in the past. So my concern and question is, will the Deluxe version walk me through a 2019 filing taking into account earned tax credits?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
if you are using the 2019 version of Turbo Tax, it will calculate the Earned Income Tax Credit.
But hurry, the deadline for filing a 2019 tax return to obtain any credits due you is July 15, 2023- just a week or so away.
However, if you are amending your tax return, the deadline is 3 years from the date the tax return was originally filed or July 15, 2023 whichever is EARLIER.
you may want to review this IRS website and specifically the 2019 eligibility requirements:
All the TurboTax desktop editions will calculate the Earned Income Credit if you are eligible based on the information you enter on the 2019 tax return.
The 2019 tax returns for a tax refund must be filed on or before July 17, 2023. If filed after that date the refund will not be paid.
Go to this IRS website for Publication, 596 Earned Income Credit (EIC) (2019) instructions - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/p596--2019.pdf
Use this procedure to check your EIC in TurboTax after entering your personal information and all of your income -
