Should I wait filing my tax if other person who I share Obamacare plan already filed and forgot to claim his share?

I am sharing my ObamaCare (Affordable Care Act) plan with my adult, non-dependent son. We were to split the cost etc. 50/50. But he made a mistake; he didn't claim his 50% share in his Fed return and he did claim 50% in state (California) return. (Because California has its own subsidiary, there is a separate form.)

After searching Q&A, he cannot file an amend return immediately; he has to wait until IRS finalize his tax (i.e. refund is issued). In this situation, should I wait my filing by applying for extension? I am afraid that IRS would detect the inconsistency between my filing and his filing, and tell me that I must claim 100% since my son didn't, if I go ahead and file mine now. Is this a good strategy or am I worried too much?

You should go ahead and file your return. If the IRS did match your return with his, that sort of thing would normally be done months after when the original return was filed.
