Someone gave me a 1099-NEC in error, which was e-filed. They just now gave me a corrected 1099 for $0, but this one was not e-filed. It was mailed to IRS, which will take weeks or months for them to process. I know that if I e-file my taxes without the 1099 that the IRS already has on file, it could automatically trigger an audit. Should I file an extension to give the IRS time to receive and process the corrected 1099?

File now. The IRS will do the matching next year.
it will not trigger an audit. at most you would get a letter about the discrepancy to which you could respond so file now
