Schwab import fails

I was attempting to import all day. Getting error msg 590...useless...on phone with Schwab and TT. No answers there. Turbo tax said it was a problem "across" and they are working on it(I guess not too hard).

Fix that worked for me:

I noticed that in the Security section of Schwab there was an option to bypass verification on trusted devices. I have had difficulty understanding how that feature worked. On a whim, I checked the box that said verify on all devices.

Bingo...got a text with code from Schwab. Entered it and sure enough download started and import was successful. I hope this helps someone from spending days trying to figure it out!

Schwab import fails

4-1-22 This fixed my broken import using Win 10 TT Premier and Edge:

Update Windows 10 and Reboot.

Update TT and Reboot.

Schwab installed a very sophisticated security system with Intuit login + Schwab popup windows that requires user acceptance. This likely broke  the previous download to TT.

Schwab import fails

I've used TT for many years with not one problem importing from Schwab. Not so this year. After trying numerous things, including changing my TT password several times and trying suggestions from this thread, I gave up and spent the better part of a gorgeous, sunny FL day manually entering all my trades...I hope TT gets this solved b4 next year's filing season or I will opt for another platform. A shame after being a loyal TT user for decades. I haven't been able to find the phone number for TT technical support, if anyone has it I'd appreciate posting it on this thread.  Thanks.

Schwab import fails

I suffered through the agony and frustration of uploading 1099’s from Schwab to TT last year (for my 2021 tax return) and expected the worst this year. So I was pleasantly surprised when I uploaded my Schwab 1099’s this past weekend with zero issues. I followed the simple directions on TT and it all went very smoothly, like clockwork! Congratulations TT for getting this right for 2022.

Schwab import fails

When I select Charles Schwab as the partner to download my 1099 composite, I get an Intuit login screen instead of a Schwab login screen.  Furthermore, I can't enter a login or password in the Intuit login screen.  In some attempts the Intuit login screen is grayed out and hard to see.  I've successfully triggered the login screen for other partners, e.g., TIAA-CREF, and logged in and downloaded my 1099.  Any one else having this problem?  Thanks!

Schwab import fails

I am having similar issues.  On the import screen, I click "Continue" to start the import.  It opens a new window, I am able to enter in my login and password.  It brings up the accounts I wish to import the data from.  I accept the terms of service page, then it starts to connect and get the tax data.  It appears to be a success and and I get the following:

"Success! We got your tax data. You can now return to TurboTax."

Only thing is in TurboTax there isn't a done or message that it got the data, only have the option of, 1) Back - which goes back to picking an institution; 2) Continue - which starts the whole import process again; or 3) Skip Import - which takes you to manually entering in all your 1099 infos.

I'm using turbotax Home and Business desktop

Schwab import fails

That's what happened to me on numerous attempts, except I can login to Intuit but despite using the correct password I get a message: "hmmm something seems to be wrong"

As I said in my previous post I spent the better part of a Sunday afternoon manually inputting my trades.

If anyone has the phone number for TT technical (their FAQ sites are a waste of time on this problem) please post it so I, and probably many others, can flood them with calls.

Schwab import fails

Donald751, that's fine for you, but if you've read here many of us cannot download from Schwab. In my case over the many years I've used TT, I've never had a problem and despite trying various suggestions posted on this thread I had to manually enter all the Schwab info.

Schwab import fails

I have 3rd party access,  the brokerage accounts downloaded, the bank accounts were not listed as an option and did not download. I've talked to Schwab, they say it is a Turbo tax issue.

Schwab import fails

Update.  The method of changing screen resolution back and forth described below actually worked for me.  I was able to login to Intuit and then to Schwab and download my 1099 successfully:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/i-can-not-activate-my-softwqare-becaue-of-a-grey-...

That post described a problem with activating the software but worked for me for 1099 download as well.

Schwab import fails

So here's my work around since TT nor Schwab could make it work on my laptop with Windows 11 installed.  I loaded the CD on my old laptop that had Windows 10 and went to download data from Schwab.   TT did force signg into the Turbo Tax site first which was successful, then onto Schwab's site.  The data was downloaded and I saved the tax return on a memory stick  then plugged the stick into my laptop with Windows 11 (its a smaller laptop which is why I like using it) and now all is a good.  Shouldn't  have to do this but so be it.....TT please continue to work on a fix.  Thanks.

Schwab import fails

dgog24,

I use a desktop with Win10. When attempting to download from Schwab I am prompted to login to Intuit. When I do I get a hmmm...something went wrong, despite the fact that I used the correct Intuit password. So then I'm prompted to change my Intuit password, I did 3 different times, and although I can log in directly to Intuit, when I get back into TT and try to long in I get the same "hmmmm" message. Therefor I believe it is a TT/Intuit problem, not Schwab. Thanks for your input.

Schwab import fails

That is the exact way I had to workaround last year. TT hasn't fixed the problem yet?

well I know what to expect again this year.

Download Schwabb in old slow laptop with windows 10, then move to new laptop with windows 11.

or just stay in windows 10.
