Schedule C- Prize Winnings

Why is TurboTax making me complete a Schedule C form when I entered this 1099-MISC in under other income, and it was for prize earnings? How do I make the Schedule C go away?

After you entered the form 1099-MISC, you should have seen a screen that said Does one of these uncommon situations apply? One of the responses is This is prize winnings. You need to choose that option. You can go back in the income section and edit your 1099-MISC entry to reflect the prize winnings. If the schedule C still appears after you do that, you can delete it by following these steps:

1. Click on Tax Tools in the left menu bar
2. Click on Tools
3. Look under Other Helpful Links and choose Delete a form

Find the form or schedule you want to remove in the list and click on the delete icon to remove it.
