Schedule C, Other income

I included a state COVID grant on my Schedule C, Other income line, and it is not calculating it. I double checked the form view, and it is not there. Any thoughts on what could be holding it back?

Schedule C, Other income

Did you go back into the return to make sure that it is still listed under other income?    If it is now showing listed in other income, then enter it and continue. The amount of other income should show on Line 6 of Schedule C.    

 

To verify if it has been entered and you are using TurboTax desktop switch to "Forms" and then scroll to Schedule C.  Now scroll down Schedule C until you see Line 6 under Part I income.   Do you see an amount on this line?    If not, that means it did not get entered in the correct spot.   

 

Did you receive a 1099-MISC?   If so, it is possible that when you entered the 1099-MISC it was placed on Line 8z of Schedule 1.   In Forms, mode check Schedule 1 and see if it is listed on this form.   If the COVID Grant funds are showing on Schedule 1 and should be on Schedule C you will need to delete the 1099-MISC from the Wages and Income, 1099-MISC and Other Common Income Section and enter the 1099-MISC when you are working in Business Items,  Business Income and Expenses (Sch C).  

 

To delete the 1099-MISC from the 1099-MISC and Other Common Income got to the Wages and Income Screen, scroll to 1099-MISC and Other Common Income and click on update next to Income from 1099-MISC, then click on Delete next to the 1099-MISC that needs to be deleted.

 

Now you will go back to the Wages and Income Screen, Scroll down to Business Items and click on Business Income and Expenses (Sch C).   If you have not started your Schedule C then click on Start.   If you have started your Schedule C then click on Update and then Edit for the Schedule C listed.  Either answer the questions on your business if you have not already done so or click through the screens until you get to the screen that will ask about 1099-MISC.   Then click on Add a 1099-MISC.  Enter the information from the 1099-MISC and click continue. 

This will take you to a screen that says 1099-MISC Summary.   Click Done and you will get a screen that says Enter Business Income that is Not on a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC.   For your income if you did not receive a 1099-NEC or if you did not get a 1099-MISC for the COVID Grant funds then enter the regular income under Income and Sales and the COVID Grant funds under Other Income on this page.  Then continue to answer the questions until you are back to the main Wages and Income screen.
