SBTPG returning income tax to IRS

Requested SBTPG to return my refund back to the IRS back in april-may after the check was lost in mail twice. As of last week they still do not have a eta on when refunds will get sent back to the IRS. Anyone else in the same boat? Do you need to get with a tax advocate to work on it and get it processed faster or what?

Have already contact sbtpg multiple times over past couple months, hence why my refund is being returned to the IRS. Because the check has been 'lost' in mail twice. Just seeing if anyone else has had a successful refund returned to the IRS from SBTPG

@JonLynch33 -

can I make a suggestion?

SBTPG is a subsidiary of Green Dot Bank.

Your refund is being deposited into a Green Dot Bank bank account and then withdrawn from that bank account and forwarded to YOUR bank (net of the fees that are due to Turbo Tax).

That means that the transaction is regulated by Green Dot Bank's regulators: the OCC and the CFPB.

I would suggest that an effective way to bring up the issues you are having is to complain to the OCC and the CFPB.  If there are enough complaints, these two regulatory organizations will take notice.

this is the complaint form for the OCC (note that the name of the bank is "Green Dot" be sure to use the space between the two words)

for the CFPB:

getting lost in the USPS twice would make it an USPS issue. are your name and address current with both the IRS and USPS.

if the address on the return is not the same as your present address you'll need to update it
