RMD

There is no line on the 1040-X for RMD data.   IRS wants to insure taxpayers meet the minimum requirements and IRA custodians forward 1099R to IRS.   TT audit should prompt the tax preparer for the correct RMD data and assist in the calculation (AI prompt).  At the very least, TT should flag the entry in the audit before approval.   Four (4) years of mistakes which should have been corrected by TT software.

It depends. Did you take any distributions that were reported on a 1099R for each of those four years? TurboTax checks for RMD issues if you have already entered a 1099-R and answered "No" to the question about taking the full distribution. If no 1099-R was entered (because no money was taken), the software doesn't detect an issue.

Without a 1099R, the RMD requirements will be ignored by the software.
