I began my tax return using the On-Line software. Before it was completed, the software told me I needed to upgrade to Deluxe version because I have a Schedule 3 deduction. The online version at that time told me I would have a $5982 refund and a $200 NYS refund. Thinking this would mean a larger refund, I purchased the Deluxe version on disc and loaded it onto my PC.
After reloading all the information, the software now tells me the Federal refund will be $2898 and the NYS refund is still $200. I don't understand the discrepancy between the two versions.
This is the first year I tried the on-line version, I have purchased and used TurboTax for the last 10 years. My confidence is shaken. What could cause this level of variation in the return amount?,

If you needed to upgrade due to a Schedule 3, the online version would not have included the Schedule 3 information. The CD/download version includes the Schedule 3 information that was not in the online version. This is why there is a difference between the two versions.
