Had my return checked and rechecked on the Deluxe version of Turbotax software said all was ok. then I received a message from the IRS saying it was rejected because Social Security was saying that the SSN was listed as it belonging to a deceased person. Well I'm not dead. I called SSA and they said nothing wrong with the SSN. I should resend, which I did, So I refiled and now waiting for confirmation of acceptance. Social Security informs me that they are receiving complaints from Turbotax users for the same problem. I spoke with Turbo Tax support 3 times and no one knows anything. why does this happen?

This issue has nothing to do with TurboTax.
What happens is that every year, the IRS gets a copy of a giant data file from the SSA, showing all the names and SS numbers of taxpayers. Somehow, the IRS copy of the data file shows that you are deceased, or the IRS is checking the wrong number in the data file.
As you can see, TurboTax has nothing to do with this - it's between the IRS and the SSA.
On occasion, the e-file process fails because of some problem with that file. Your solution is to paper file your return, if the e-file won't work.
