Reporting a bequest on a form 3520. I uploaded it to documents however TurboTax says the form won’t be included in my tax return- how do I add it so it IS included?

I’d like to attach a form 3520 to my 2024 tax return. I have uploaded a completed pdf version of the file to the documents associated with my 2024 tax return. However, a TurboTax message that popped up said the document won’t be attached to/included with my return. How can I attach it to my return for efiling?

Since this form is filed separately from your income tax return (and doesn’t result in any tax owed or refund due), it isn’t a supported form within Intuit TurboTax. Many taxpayers will be able to tackle this form on their own if they have gifts and bequests (inheritances). See this TurboTax article for more information.

Form 3520 must have all required attachments to be considered complete.

With a few exceptions, if your tax return requires an attachment and/or explanation statement. you can't e-file. TurboTax will display a message if your return has to be mailed.
