Rental Property in Other State

If I have rental property in another state, how do I file those taxes? Please share any resources on the topic as well.

Each state has their own tax regulations that they apply to income.  @Jcoop1 which states are you referring to specifically?

Rental Property in Other State

For any state that you are not a resident, you would follow the non-resident taxation rules.  Almost all states will tax income that was earned in their state.  In Alabama, you would report any rental income from Alabama sources.  Alabama will collect information on all of your income from all sources and use a percentage to calculate the tax due.  Georgia also taxes any Georgia source income, but the way this state taxes income is by starting with your Federal AGI (adjusted gross income) and then they use a Schedule to calculate the Georgia taxable income for nonresidents.  Florida and Texas do not have state income taxes, but may have other obligations.  In Florida, you may need to register with the Department of Revenue, report and pay Sales Tax, and file a Tangible Personal Property Tax Return. The Florida return in TurboTax is to report tangible personal property that is used in a Florida-located business or rental property and is filed with the county property appraiser by April 1st.   Unlike Florida, Texas does not have these reporting obligations and you would not need to file a tax return to report your rental income.
