I have two 1099-R that are identical. One is in my name and the other is in my wife's name. I received a notice of rejection for a duplicate 1099-R. There were no duplicates. I rechecked my files.

Please revisit your 1099-R entries.
When entering each form 1099-R, there is a page titled Who does this 1099-R belongs to?. It is important that you can click on the first name of the spouse the 1099-R belongs to.
That was the first thing I checked for. They both had the proper names associated with it.
This occurs to prevent actual duplicate 1099-R's from being transmitted. The workaround is to add $1 to your 1099-R and subtract $1 from your wife's. This will resolve the duplication problem, and will not change your tax return by one penny.
Thank you for your response. I have submitted the return for the third time. I increased my line 1 & 2a by $1 and decreased my wife's line 1 & 2a by $1.
I hope this does the trick.
What I do not understand is that we have submitted both identical 1099-Rs before in previous tax years and never had a problem.
