Recovery Rbate Credit 2021

I amending my 2021 tax return filing because the data entry for the Recovery Rebate Credit was not included or overlooked while filing through this service. I followed the prompts for amending through the website. I downloaded the tax appropriate tax file. I saved the record of the account. I even saved the overview of further instructions which confirms that the IRS owes the $1400. I am now following the steps to process the amendment on-line, using Desktop 2021; but I cannot find where I need to update the information for correcting the amount to enter for the Recovery Rebate Credit.

I am not superb with tax filing, but it seems that there have some missed steps in the total process of filing/amending. What am I supposed to do to obtain my refund expeditiously?

Recovery Rbate Credit 2021

To access the Recovery Rebate section when using the TurboTax online editions -

Click on Federal on the left side of the online tax return.

Click on Other Tax Situations

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Continue

The next screen or two should take you through entering the Recovery Rebate Credit.

Do not include your old 1040 nor your revised 1040 because the Form 1040-X reflects any changes there and becomes your new tax return.

To claim the rebate credit , put $1,400 on 1040-X Line 15 Col B and Col C

Check the "other" box and write "rebate credit" in the space provided.

after doing the arithmetic for the remaining lines, you would get a 1040-X refund of $1,400

You can do this all yourself by getting an editable PDF Form 1040-X from the IRS website.
