May 3, 2021, I just received Form 3531 from IRS asking for my Spouses signature which was missing.
I filed electronically for 2019 and no signature pages were mailed in and not required by program.
This mailing from IRS included printed copies of my 1040-SR showing my signature and date but not my wife's.
I do not understand how they have copy of my e-filed return with my signature and date .
After filing my 2019 return via e-file, I mailed in the Form-V along with required 1099's etc.

Just received same form 3531 with copy of my 2019 taxes I filed online. Don't understand what this is all about as I followed all the indications Turbo Tax gave me and all was supposed to have been in order. I tried a search in the IRS web site putting Form 3531 on the search bar but it resulted on no such items. Wonder if this is some type of phishing...
I mailed back the Form 3531 and the printed Form 1040SR which the IRS had sent to me. They received the form on May 7th. I have yet to receive an answer as to where they got the Form 1040SR with just my signature and date, since I filed electronically.
I tried calling several times but never any answer by agent.
I don't think this was a phisihing scheme but I think it is a bit suspicious.

Do you have a mailing address, need to send it back for my friend.
Thanks
VS24,
I returned the Form 3531 to: INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE
Submission Processing Center
Austin, TX 73301
This was the return address shown on the large envelope that I received from the IRS.
I mailed it with a tracking number and received delivery notification that it was delivered to that address.
That was May 7th 2021. I have yet to hear back from them with an answer.
RW
Thanks
she may never get it back but as always it’s worth a try
Your actual letter from the IRS tells you what mailing address to use,
not the envelope.
Fanfare,
The actual letter that I received was the Form 3531 which states at the bottom of the second page:
TO REPLY, USE THE RETURN ADDRESS ON THE MAILING ENVELOPE OR REFER TO IRS.GOV AND SEARCH
"WHERE TO FILE."
I therefore used the "return address" on my mailing envelope which was: Internal Revenue Service, Submission Processing Center, Austin, TX 73301.
Therefore, the "point" you are trying to make is mute

Hello, have you received any response yet? I’m having the same issue.
Is your question, where to file Form 3531? If so use this link for addresses on where to send forms. return related document, use the address for where you would mail a return.
@trevinoana53
Thank you for the link... You were the only one to answer my question! Much appreciated!
I have the same case as yours. I am wondering where I should mail back form 3531? Mail address on envelope is from Austin where else IRS website says Kansas city. Did they accept your amended refund after you returned it to Austin? TIA!
@capnbobl1011 Hi, did you receive your tax return after sending to the submission processing center? I did exactly what you did
Never received any response after returning the Form 3531. I file my tax return electronically.
