Got an email from Turbotax today saying last year I filed a W-2 from an employer that I've never been employed with. I'd like to know why I was sent the email. I checked and the email address is Turbo Tax's email. I've seen other answers on here saying maybe another customer put the wrong email/user id.

Hey, it looks like this is a massive mess-up that TurboTax does not want to own up to, affecting many, many people in multiple states. I just spent an hour and a half on the phone getting bounced back and forth.
Here is my other comment on a post by someone affected by the same issue:
Here is a reddit thread of other people who also were affected by this:

Per customer support (non-paywalled version), it isn't a phishing scam, and TurboTax "has no idea" about this mixup. Seems untrue. They will not let you lodge a complaint by the way, I tried. They tried to get me off the phone at every possible turn and told me to just call the IRS. They also said they were "investigating", so I don't know how they could be doing that if they didn't know about the problem.
Multiple people appear to have frozen their credit over this, and it's a really bad look for a company that leaked the entire country's data a couple months ago! Lol
Since they auto-delete the company's human-being customer support #: 3lght 3lght 3lght 53v3n 53v3n 53v3n thr33 thr33 z3ro 5ix 5ix
