If TurboTax Desktop won't open after an update, try the following:

 

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Restart Your Computer: A full reboot often resolves post-update launch issues.
  • Run as Administrator: Right-click the TurboTax icon and select Run as administrator to bypass permission issues caused by updates.

Fix Installation Issues:

  • Clear Cache/Cookies: Clear your browser cache and cookies as this can affect the software's ability to update. 
  • Repair Installation (Windows): Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, right-click TurboTax, and select Change/Repair.
  • Uninstall and Reinstall: If the repair fails, uninstall TurboTax, restart your computer, and download/install a fresh copy from the official site.
