Your W-2 doesn't show up in TurboTax. TurboTax doesn't have your W-2 forms, but if your payroll provider is a TurboTax Import Partner, you should be able to import it. You will need information from your W-2 or last paycheck stub to import. From your W-2, you need the information from Box 1 (gross income) or year to date gross income from your last paycheck stub and your employer's EIN. Sometimes, you will need the Control Number, which is in box D of the W-2.
For additional information, review the TurboTax Help articles Will I be able to import my W-2 before I get it in the mail? and How do I import or enter my W-2?
Your W-2 doesn't just "show up" anywhere. You have to enter it or import it into your tax return. It's not clear what you are trying to do. Do you have a 2023 W-2 that you did not include in your 2023 tax return, or are you looking for a copy of a 2023 W-2 that you entered in your 2023 tax return, or do you need a copy of a 2023 W-2 that you do not have?
If you never filed a 2023 tax return, and you do not have a copy of your 2023 W-2, you have to get a copy of the W-2 from your employer. TurboTax does not have it.
You have to include your 2023 W-2 in your 2023 tax return. You cannot enter a 2023 W-2 in your 2024 tax return. TurboTax Online is now only for 2024. To file for 2023 you have to purchase the desktop TurboTax software for 2023 and install it on your Windows or Mac computer. There is no free filing for past years. You would not be able to import your 2023 W-2. You would have to enter it manually.
If you already filed a 2023 tax return but omitted a W-2, you have to file an amended return for 2023, Form 1040-X, to add the missing W-2.
