I don't buy this reply. I have used Turbo Tax for years and this is the first year I have experienced such a slow boot up.
You are commenting on an old thread. Can you tell us specifically what sort of issue you are having so we can help you?
Yes it's an old thread but the behavior has been the same every single year since my first post. I launch the Windows desktop app and there is a long pause during startup with an embarrassingly coy message "yes we know it's taking a long time." It's as if every launch requires some kind of remote validation and check for updates. The program should just launch when you ask it to.
I agree with Andy,
If you read through all the posts in this thread, it is assumed by users that there is some time consuming process on TurboTax launch that needs to access Intuit servers for something.. Licensing or update information is suspected. However, users feel that such needless delays are unwarranted. They can be done as a background process or not at all. These delays are not present in other similar programs, nor locally running programs like MS Office, etc.
This has gone on for years as this thread demonstrates. It is clear that either..
Intuit has inept programmers (which I hope is not true)
User input from the community is ignored (I have no evidence other than this thread)
Or there is some true Intuit requirement for the the delay which is not shared with its users.
I continue to use TurboTax, and tolerate the seemingly needless delay, but would prefer to see some official response as to why users must be inconvenienced this way.
We at Intuit TurboTax want our users to be completely delighted with their experience using our products and services, and successful in their financial lives and businesses.
Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab.
Launching TurboTax 2024 now takes 2 minutes 27 seconds to start. It looks like the app is scanning your C: drive. The larger your disk storage, the longer it takes.
2 minutes 27 seconds to scan a high performance 2 TB SSD containing 1.41 TB with 4,296,087 file and folders. Disk usage spikes to about 76%.
Brutal.
