How long ago was your e-file accepted?

Sometimes people get confused by the “summary” given by TurboTax and use the wrong amount for the federal refund.  Make sure you are only using the federal refund amount, and not an amount that combined your federal and state refunds.

Your federal refund amount is on line 20 of your Form 1040

Are you using the refund amount from line 20 of your Form 1040 when you check the IRS site?

I actually owe taxes so trying to pay them on the IRS website... but it says that my Federal return wasn't yet received but Turbotax said it was accepted... so not sure what's going on!

@gwilton782 Where are you looking on the IRS site?  The IRS Where's My Refund site does not display anything about your tax return if you owe tax due.  It only shows information for returns that will receive refunds.  Not sure what is stopping you from going to the IRS payment site to pay the IRS:

You have missed the payment deadline of July 15, so after you pay, you can expect a bill someday for the interest you owe.

Having the same problem. You can't pay the IRS because the site doesn't show how to pay it since IRS is showing it never even got it. It's like saying you have a bill and then the vendor not receiving the tab.

You can pay your tax bill at the IRS website even if your tax return has not been accepted.
