Wish I could use the taxact but I checked and it seemed to indicate cannot use if you have distributions from an IRA even if normal distribution?
Sorry, meant not taxact but direct file with IRS.
For some people perhaps direct efile with IRS may be an option, unfortunately not for me.
Used to be some banks and credit unions had free efile for more simple returns but just checked and my credit union has dropped the feature.
Also checked the IRS free file program fillable forms but again if you have IRA distributions not an option.
I also checked the taxact sw suggested, thanks, may work for some. The free version does not work if you itemize or have IRA distributions even if normal.
Guess I am going to just have to mail in by certified mail in a few days unless TT actually stops holding on to and not transmitting all these returns to the IRS. Or perhaps I will just go ahead and pay to use taxact and have to redo my entire return...not looking forward to that but...again TT leaves little choice as it is clear from comments IMO that they have NO intention of addressing the problem in any reasonable or timely manner, preferring as has been IMO their standard mode of operation the past few years to try to blame all their created problems on the IRS or the taxpayer.
Just to clarify again, in my case there are no unusual situations such as ev credit. Just normal retirement income (SS and small normal IRA distribution) issues and itemized deductions. I also checked online and IRS has said all forms I have in my return are available. So IMO this clearly is more garbage from TT in many cases at least if no ev credit, etc.
Still nothing as well what’s going on
Just wondering if any of you stuck in this longer than normal possibly permanent pending transmittal mode (and no issues such as ev credit or other IRS forms not available) with no acceptance of supposedly efiled return from IRS had problems activating TT? I had severe problems activating TT desktop because TT putting in endless login activation loop--with TT trying to then force me to use online version instead. Lots of people were in this situation for weeks from Nov 2024 and some as of last check still had problems due to TT sw glitches with most receiving no actual help to activate.
Thanks.
I stayed “pending” from 1/24 to 2/4, until I filed else where. When Turbo go around to finally sending mine, it got rejected and that’s it. For sure my last time using this TT!
Thanks.
I am also done with TT for next year. Anyone having positive experiences elsewhere? I see complaints for other tax sw as well though doesn't appear to be nearly as bad as TT at least wrt the activation and filing transmittal issues I have experience this year. Otherwise guess it is back to pen and paper next year.
This year I am going to print out and mail in the old fashioned way later this week and give up on seeing my refund anytime soon.
Unfortunately calling TT is a waste of time...they never do anything to actually help and seem to always blame the IRS or the taxpayer for TT caused problems/issues.
This doesn't apply to many of us having problems...just like last year, TT claimed for weeks forms not available from the IRS but going to the IRS website the forms I needed (which TT said weren't there) in fact were. For weeks!
Does taxact take very long to complete if you have all the information already? I need a version that I have to pay for (on top of TT) and want to be sure that it works well and is easy to use before I am out more money. Would rather efile than print and mail via certified mail which what I am seriously considering at this point. Thanks.
Is taxact easy to use and can it be done in a short period of time if you have already completed the TT return? I have to pay for the version of taxact I would need (on top of the wasted TT) so I want to be sure it will work for me without a lot more time, otherwise I will just print out and mail but I really do need to get my refund sooner rather than later which is why I efile. Thanks.
Thanks but these credits have nothing to do with many of our returns having problems including mine.
Did you need to use the paid version of taxact? Is it that quick and easy? Want to be sure before I have to pay for a second tax sw to efile my return. Thanks.
