Why doesn't Turbo tax connect directly with Vanguard any more? I verified user name and password and both are correct but I can't direct connect to download forms

Vanguard is still set to import into the online version of TurboTax.  If you want to use the desktop version and import your Vanguard forms you'll have to download them into the online version and then convert your online TurboTax return to a desktop return.  Here's how to do that.

You now have to access each 1099 by putting in the acct# and the doc ID found on the 1099.  I was able to download our 1099-R forms today.  It was easier when you could just logon to Vanguard and let TT pull the forms.  Guess there was an untenable security issue.  I wasn't able to pull down the 1099 Consolidated forms for Int/Div/Brokerage yet.  Hopefully this is just a timing issue.  Those forms already show up as available in the Vanguard site.

You need to talk to yoru colleagues......that's just wrong.

Desktop allows importing from most all major brokerages, including Vanguard....at least once Vanguard gets them up for "import".

BUT

Folks have to realize that Vanguard's paper/PDF tax forms may be ready and available before the specially-formatted tax import files are ready for use.  Same goes for other brokerages.

For importing the Vanguard Brokerage account to Turbo tax, you do not use your user or password. Instead you entered the Vanguard account Number and Document ID show on top of your Form 1099 statement.  Hope this helps.

Yep, my brother and I tried 3 or 4 times before realizing the Vanguard Brokerage tax file import process, did NOT use UserID/Pwd. 

We're all mentally preprogramed to one way to log in....when a different procedure is required, we can miss it entirely.
