The program often creates a "supporting statement" or a hidden link in the background when you answer certain questions during the interview process.  You will need to delete these form(s) to clear the problem.

Delete Forms & Supporting Documents (Online):

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Click Tax Tools, then Tools (bottom left), and Click on Delete a form.
  3. Scroll down to State forms, and Look for a form titled something like "Other Additions & Subtractions", "IT-225", or "PTET Worksheet".
  4. Click Delete next to that specific form and confirm.
  5. Re-Run the "Review" (Smart Check) again (this should clear the requirement for that line).

or...

Delete Forms & Supporting Documents (Desktop):

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Click on Forms Mode (top right).
  3. Find the state form causing the issue (left column) (e.g., NY IT-225 or VA Sch CR)
  4. Click on the form to open it, and Look for the specific line (often Code 20 or Code EA-219) where the "0" is stuck.
  5. Right-click the box and Click on Clear Data (not just Delete).
  6. If that doesn't work, Click on the form itself, then Click the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.
