Why do I have to "clear and start over" to downgrade/switch turbo tax versions? Why is there no index of your software? Your services are annoying as hell to use.

Instructions to downgrade your software are found below. It does require you to clear and start over your return.

To choose this option:

1. Click Tax Tools
2. Click Clear & Start Over
3. Confirm

While this will require you to redo the return in its entirety, it will also delete any and all forms associated with the return.

There are 2 free versions. In the regular Turbo Tax Free Edition, information that you can enter is limited now.  Why do I have to upgrade from the Free Edition?

OR There is also The Turbo Tax Free File program which is free for federal and state.  And has more forms than the Federal Free Edition, like Schedules A, B, C , D, E, F, EIC, H, K-1, SE,  etc.

To qualify for the Free File website  you just need to meet one of these 3 things
AGI $36,000 or less
Active duty military with AGI of $69,000 or less
OR qualify for EIC (earned income credit.)

In order to use the Free File program, you have to start it at a special website. Try signing in at the top right

Or you can buy the Desktop CD/Download program.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.  You can move your online return to the Desktop program without paying for online.  See the Desktop versions here
