Why did we get only one stimulus check when there should be two. Filed jointly?

Taxpayers who filed a joint return will get a single stimulus payment that is the sum of the payments for each individual.

If you have direct deposit, the notation on the deposit will have the phrase "IRS TREAS" in it (twice, in fact).

I understand only one deposit, but it should have been for a total of $1200, not the $600 that was deposited. Guess I did not word my initial question very well. Stimulus $600 each correct?

Last stimulus deposit did come through with the total for both of us.

thanks.

Unfortunately, TurboTax has no control over how much stimulus payment a taxpayer receives. This is determined solely by the IRS.

Note that if your income in 2019 exceeded certain amounts, then the amount of the payment is decreased. Please see this IRS FAQ for information about eligibility and amounts.

If it turns out that you were due a higher amount, then you may be able to apply on your 2020 tax return for the Recovery Rebate Credit, so that missing amount would be applied to your 2020 taxes and potentially added to your refund. Please see this IRS page for more information.
