I have fixed the form 8915-F. Thanks. All joking aside, I spoke to a very nice representative. She didn't know how to fix the issue. Not her fault. The form is not ready.

I am using the online TT. I created my 1099-R using my 2020 form I got when I took out the qualified withdrawal. I entered all of the information and my refund took a major nosedive. However, when I proceeded through a few questions I came to a part where I can select "I took out this money due to a qualified disaster".
My return immediately jumps back up, and on the surface appears to take into account 1/3 of that amount. A few questions later I can select "Yes, this was a Qualified 2020 Disaster Distribution"
I then get to this.... "For the Qualified 2020 Disaster Distribution reported, we need to know which disaster affected you."
There is a drop down box with lots of options, but none of the options are due to the coronavirus. The options are only state disasters that are storm related.
Where are people selecting it was due to the Corona Virus?
I have went through this whole 1099-R part 5 times and can not find anything that I can relate to the corona virus
It's the check box on the first question.

The form was in today's update and is there now. The question that you are looking at is for disaster types other than COVID.
My screen is totally different....what the heck!!!!
Doesn’t work for me. After entering the information, it does not add it, and then when I wrap up income it asks me again about it. I say yes, it says to revisit the section.
So while the form was added, doesn’t seem to be working correctly, at least for me.
Anybody having luck with it?
It is not working for me either on desktop premier for windows. It asks me all the questions but does not create the form in my return and does not add to my total taxable income, I still only see my W2 income. Therefore, it's not calculating taxes owed correctly.
My Federal refund took a nosedive, and so did my state refund! We had to pay the state liability all at once, and we weren't able to spread it over 3 years, correct? TT is adding the 1/3 contribution from this year to my Federal earnings, and my state earnings, which shouldn't be correct. Is anyone else seeing the same thing?
You are incorrect; state liability is not paid all at once. 1/3 is added to Fed earnings which inherently gets passed along to state via your AGI.
If you paid state tax on 100% in 2020, TurboTax should ask you about it so that it is not added on this year.
If it doesn't do that, boo on TurboTax.
You have to find some way to reduce the 2021 state taxable amount of IRA or 401k in the program either on a worksheet, or with an override.
How best to do it would depend on your state forms.
I’m not sure if we have to add the 2020 1099-R, that doesn’t seem right.
but it’s the only way I can get TT Premier for Windows to create the 8915F form for my 2021 return and add the 1/3 distribution to my taxable income. I’m not going to proceed until I can get some sort of clarification.
I am having the same problem and would really like to complete my return tonight but there is no option for COVID. Has a solution been found? And if so, where do I find it? Thanks
Ok, I found it. I went back and deleted the 1099-R information I had previously entered and now the COVID options appear.
Still no luck here. All the appropriate Covid questions and forms appear, but it does not add the 1/3 portion to the income.
Hard to figure it took this long for TT to add the 8915F and it still doesn’t work.
Yes, I just got through filling mine out and am having the same problem. 🙄
It is making the whole experience quite exasperating.
So...to get an idea of what my final tax return will look like I selected one of the disasters listed then it walked me through a series of questions eventually bringing me to form 8915F. This being the case, I will wait it out until tomorrow to see what updates will be made available so that I can select the correct disaster relief which would be COVID.
