When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

The IRS released the e-file version on Feb 4.  Is there an update on when it will be available in the software?

I agree!  Turbotax seems to think we want to be out here on their silly community forum!  They don't seem to get most of the activity is related to paying customers who are irritated and dissatisfied.  Shouldn't take 2 months to modify their programming to accommodate the final Form 8915-F, particularly since it is unchanged from the draft that was released last Fall!!!

I have a feeling that TurboTax is going to follow HR&Block scheme to drag this issue until April 18 deadline, beyond that date and possibly until the next tax season for profitability...! So, you won't be able to file electronically by yourself...! The choices would be either you pay a TT of HRB agent so they file electronically on your behalf, or You print your Return and file through US mail...! I hope I am wrong...!

Don't know about that.   I think they will get it done.  Just not with much time to spare.   And I'm more than willing to snail mail my return.  Did it for years.  And I will never pay a TT agent to E-File for me!

You should use FreeTaxUSA. I have used turbo tax for years but this year waiting for this form is unacceptable. Turbo Tax offered 60 day satisfaction guaranteed or money back and TT would not give a refund for purchased Desktop TT. Now my goal is to let people know how much better FreeTaxUSA is.

I filed my taxes week ago and the calculated refund from both companies was the same.

IRS has websites that let you file for free if eligible or as low as $15. I already paid for TurboTax desktop version and they tried to charge me another $20 to Efile the state. Ridiculous since all my taxes were only $15 at FreeTaxUSA (it would have been free but my AGI was not within the free limit). Check it out. Even the software is better since it doesn’t try to get you to pay extra every screen like Turbo Tax. Over 10 year customer but never going back up TurboTax.

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

The IRS form and instructions for 8915-F seem to refer 2020 401k early distributions for Covid back to 8915-E.  Very confusing instructions that start out saying 8915-F is required and end saying 8915-F can’t be used if you split tax liability over three years.  Hopefully they will get this into TurboTax soon.  We all know what 1/3 number goes on line 4b.  Why can’t they give us an override to just enter 4b directly so we can file??

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

I see that a lot of people are using the freetax usa site. Can someone tell me where do I submit my information ffor the 2nd year of the Cares Act dispersment? Do I go into the 1099-R and re enter all of my information on the 1099-R from last year and then answer the questions? I can't find how to use the 8915-f form there.

"I filed my taxes week ago and the calculated refund from both companies was the same."

How did you calculate your refund on TT since 8915-F not yet available, manually enter data in the IRS final form?

Yes, that’s the exact calculation. I manually added the number. I just wanted to verify the numbers came out the same. It does match.

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

You click on "other income ". There it will ask you if you took 401k withdrawal do to covid 19, click yes. Then it will ask you to submit the number on line 9, if I remember correctly, of the 8915-E you filed last year. After you add that number, everything is calculated, and all entries are filled on the new 8915-f section. Then you simply move on to the rest of your taxes! It's that simple. They made it seem like the 8915f form was gonna be difficult,  and it's not at all!

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

@Dad8367

This is what I understand from the Form Instructions:

- For reporting coronavirus-related and other disaster distribution made in 2020, Use Form 8915-E

- For reporting qualified disaster distribution made in 2021, Use Form 8915-F

- For reporting the second re-payment of coronavirus-related and other distribution started in 2020, Use Form 8915-F
