When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

One of my state forms is not ready yet, when I tried to file my state taxes, the turbotax software indicated that the form was not yet ready, and asked if I would like to be notified when the form is ready, and the status of my state return says "All info saved" instead of "Ready to file". Why are these same features (notification and correct status) not enabled for my federal return/forms (8915-F).

Also just filed with FreeTaxUSA and it cost me over $100 less than TT. They have the form ready for those that spread their tax on their withdrawal over  3 years. I also honestly liked the interface better than TT. The only downside is you can’t upload your forms, you have to type them in. At least you won’t have to wait a month to file. I also checked H&R Block and their date for the form pushed out to 2/16, was supposed to be today.

I did the Cares Act Disaster Retirement plan and agreed to file the taxes during the 2020,2021, and 2022 tax years.  I had taxes taken out when 401K was with-drawled at approx 12-13% ($2136.01).  I am in the tax bracket for 22% taxes to be paid on 401K withdrawal so I should have a remaining $1656.99 left.  I filed my 2020 taxes last year but not sure where to find if the $2136.01 that has already been paid was applied to the 401K tax withdrawal and if they took more.  If the $2136.01 has been applied and additional money how do I figure out the taxes for this year and next cause the difference between before I put the 401K withdrawal from cares act and when I put it in it is more then what I actually owe since I had taxes taken out at the time the 401K was with-drawled.

Wyant7558, Yes my e-file was accepted by the IRS within 2 hours of filing it.

You could file and then do an amendment once the form is released?

That would make a lot of sense, or even ask questions about it- some people may have paid the money back into their 401k or pension- so they should ask and bring it forward from last year if it is being spread out- Hey, they should hire you!

The form comes up when you search IRS website and no longer states draft. It looks like it is available now.

When will Turbotax have it in system?

I don't think I'm going to receive a 2021 1099-R because my distribution was in 2020. When I report this in TurboTax (that no, I don't have a 1099-R, but yes, I did receive a disaster distribution between 2017 and 2020), it says that I need to revisit this area because "IRS instructions related to repayments of disaster distributions weren't ready in time for us to include them in this release. Please revisit this area later." When WILL they be available?

your statement is incorrect. The form became available and showed on the IRS website on 02/02/2022. It showed in PDF form and was searchable through Google the same day. TT is just behind on updating it in the system and normally take 7-14 business days to update once a new form is released. A few customer service agents had posted in other help threads that the form was going to release at the start of February when the IRS released other forms which was accurate and that it would take the above mentioned days for it to be available for E-File through TT's web application.

Amy- since the IRS finalized the 8915 F form on 2/2/22, how come it's not uploaded onto TT now? Its been over a week but you said 24 hours? One place says TT won't have it available until 3/31 even though it's already done on the part of the IRS. Can you please inform us of when it will be available? And if it really won't be ready until the end of March, can you tell us of a different company we can file with who has it available?

The new 8915-F for is currently scheduled for the 3/31 update.

I'm aware of that like I said in my post... but Amy- the TT expert/ employee- said it would only take 24 hours for TT to have it available. I would like an actual TT employee to confirm/deny this date.

Great question- I started doing that as well since I didn't get an additional 1099-R. So far it had been working, until I got the message indicating the needed 8915f form wasn't available and to revisit that section later.
