A form 1099-NEC must have the EIN of the payer.
If your form 1099-NEC has no EIN then you can report the income as Other Self-employed income. Just keep that form 1099-NEC in your tax records.
No. My income is entered and there is $0.00 taken out of federal but it’s still requiring me to enter the payers EIN, she has a SS that I entered. So I’m confused on why it’s asking for this when there’s $0 federal taken out.
When someone issues a 1099-NEC, they send a copy to the IRS.
The IRS matches this copy, and the way they are matched is based on the Payer's ID (EIN, Social Security Number).
Whether tax is withheld or not, all the forms issued are matched.
