So I file my tax return 2022. However, I wrongly filed it in 2023 because it was first time to work in the US, so I didn’t know I have to file my own tax return. I noticed that later on and filed it for 2023. Then, I didn’t get the refund because it has to be filed for 2022. I filed it in FREETAXUSA. I’m trying to file it in TurboTax now. Do I still have to do a special return for that? Or can I just file the new one??
You can file your 2022 tax return to be correct. You will have to use the 2022 version of TurboTax or the 2022 Tax return. Click here for 2022 Form 1040. Click here for 2022 Instructions to Form 1040.
You can then file an amended tax return for 2023 to reflect the correct information for 2023. You can do this in the TurboTax 2023 desktop version if you have it. Click here for Form 1040, 2023. Click here for 2023 Form 1040 Instructions. Click here for Form 1040X. Click here for Instructions to Form 1040X.
