Form 15111 is a US Treasury Form that is a questionnaire of the dependents on your return to see if they qualify for EIC. This is an IRS Internal Form. They will expect you to complete and return the form.
Yes thank you. I did the worksheet and sent it in. Hoping to hear back in a few months.
I’m also wondering where to mail it.
If you’re being asked to provide Form 15111, you most likely received a CP09 Notice from the IRS. You should mail the signed form in the envelope provided with your notice. If there’s no pre-addressed envelope, there should be an address in the notice that you can return it to.
Please see the IRS’ Understanding Your CP09 Notice page for more information.
I just got the sand paperwork in the mail. I completed my refund over a month ago and paid turbo tax.
TurboTax will calculate the Earned Income Tax Credit. There may have been something entered or not entered into the tax return that did not qualify you.
To qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, you must:
You may be able to qualify for the EITC with or without a qualifying child.
Tests to be a Qualifying Child are:
This IRS publication outlines the seven rules that apply to all taxpayers to qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
@Jendonado
Obviously they not calculate it properly because I do qualify.
Same issue here!!! I got a letter from IRS telling me I’m eligible for (EIC) which I did not claim, how could Turbo Tax make such a huge mistake. Beside they saying it’s free but it never is free. After you submitting they are charging you around almost $200. When I talked with a live agent about the charges she came up with an excuse and told me she going to send me a code which will lower my charges but that coupon code was not working. It’s better to hire a local tax expert and do all your hard work for you and much cheaper…👎🏻
I completely agree. Hire someone to do them for you properly. I will be from now on. And 100% they say it’s ‘free’ but it isn’t. I payed something to the tune of 250. I am actually apart of the lawsuit because of that with them. False advertising plus dropping the ball. I’ve done my taxes with them since I was 18 I’m 31 now and the last 4 years have been nothing but problems.
Hello,
Have you heard back from the IRS yet? I also sent the completed 15111 form back about 3 weeks ago. Not sure if I am supposed to amend my return through turbo tax or just wait until I hear back from the irs
Hay Cbowie17 I just received the same letter in April around tiger 25th it says I’ could possibly owed around 6k is that correct? Did u Receive even close to the amount that they said you could possibly be owed? This is a nightmare I can’t believe how many people are on here reporting that they have the same problem! I only used turbo tax 2 yrs and I’m for sure not using it again
@Alexxmarie - the issue with using turbo tax is that while the software may be correct, the correct refund is dependent on the taxpayer answering the questions correctly. Just one wrong answer to a question can result in not getting the benefits you are entitied to.
THIS HAPPENED TO US AS WELL AND TURBO TAX FORCED US TO UPGRADE AND SPENT 89$ TO DO SO! TURBO TAX IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BEFORE THIS YEAR BUT FOR SOME REASON THEY SCREWED UP OUR TAXES AND TOOK 89$ TO DO SO. ALSO MISSED OUT ON ALMOST 7,000$ FROM OUR EIC!! TURBO TAX SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AND HAVE TO REFUND OUR PAYMENTS TO THEM AND PAY OUT OF THEIR POCKETS FOR WHAT WE WHERE SHORTED!!!
Same problem here:
My girlfriend 100% qualifies by all the listed criteria;
TurboTax did not claim the EITC;
The IRS sent a notice telling her she could file.
Because of TurboTax’s negligence, she almost missed out on $2k.
Have you received your 2k refund? If so how long did it take for you to get it? We are on week 7 of waiting for the check in the mail 😟
