GIBBERISH IN ADDRESS LINE Also WORKED for me!!! Thank you, Genius!
I was having this same issue filing my 2022 taxes with TT Online. I have spent hours on the phone with their customer service and getting bounced around experts - with no solution. Tried different credit cards, different browsers, entirely different computers. Tried changing my address on Intuit.com as well as in TurboTax - but nothing worked.
But entering gibberish for my address (with the correct sate/zip code) DID work . Hard to believe how dysfunctional Turbo Tax is - never had a company make it so hard to pay them before.
same problem..tried half a dozen credit cards..called support..had me clear the cookies and all that
3 times..tried paying using my cell phone..same error message..
then..looked here on the community..
just change your street address line to a bunch of random characters..
I just ran my finger across my keyboard keys..
so my address looked something like this dfghjkzskjh...
went to try and pay..
ta daaaa!!
finally my credit card payment went through..
NOTE: be sure you change your street address back to the correct one before filing..
you'll see the random characters as your tax return address if you don't..
finally a big thank you to the fellow turbo taxers who figured this out!!..
its been 3 days of frustration...
TurboTax get your programmers to fix this glitch!!!!
wow, this really worked
Where did you put the gibberish address in? I am trying everything I can think of but nothing is working. Can't file because it won't accept my credit card.
I tried exactly what the post said... gibberish in the street and city, and filled in state and zip code correctly. then clicked to use my address vs. suggested one on the next screen and somehow it worked.
I had tried a million times before that to download/pay for my 2nd state and it kept getting kicked back...
Right but WHERE did you put the gibberish? In your Intuit account or when you go to file and purchase with credit card?
You would utilize this workaround for your specific payment card when you enter the payment information. Typically you can use 123 Main St. then your normal city, state, and zip code. If this doesn't work, please reach out here for further assistance.
Yeah this workaround doesn't work at all.

As bizarre as the solution might sound, this is absolutely the answer for the issue identified in the original post! Nothing worked for me and getting through to Intuit is IMPOSSIBLE. As Radko stated, put gibberish in both the address and city lines and fill out everything else correctly. And, "voila" your credit card will work. While I understand an address matching problem, it is beyond absurd this issue continues to occur. I shop online all the time and have never encountered anything even remotely similar elsewhere. I have no idea how Radko figured out this workaround but two thumbs up! 😁
Make sure that the name shown on the CC is exactly the same on all forms. Middle Initial included.
thanks for the post mattlenny, only took me two and a half hours on the phone with service, windows software download and scouring forms for another hour to get the state filed with "gibberish".
It's the third year I am facing the same issue.
This year (2024), it works by entering:
Street: gibberish
City: gibberish
I was using 123 Main Sreet. in 2022, and 321 Street in 2023. Anyway......
