I have a question about box 16 on my W2. I keep getting an error message stating that I entered a withholding greater than 50% of NJ state wages. I entered what is in the box.

Look at both Boxes 16 (State wages) and 17 (State Taxes Withheld) on your W-2.  Look for misplaced commas or decimals.

Well..is the value of box 17 more than half of box 16 on your paper W-2 form?

 

That can certainly happen...though quite rare.
