Unacceptable TT error in shuffling payments among multiple payers for 1099-R (and 1099-DIV).

Earlier I posted that TT can spuriously add a payer for 1099-DIV and move numbers around from different payers. The problem can also occur with 1099-R payers. Yesterday, I noticed that a payer, which I had already deleted, was added back, with numbers filled -- even though I didn’t enter numbers for 2020. They might have come from other payers since numbers were shuffled around from other payers. This is clearly an unacceptable error in TT. Caution: after you enter income with multiple payers, check that TT does not change and move them around. If you also observe this flaw, please respond. I tried to report it to TT, but the agent cut me off mid-sentence after a 30-minute wait.

Update on TT error in 1099-R and 1099-DIV section

I managed to get through to a live rep in TT re this issue. It turns out that TT is aware of the problem; it is due to a glitch connected with imported 1099 Forms, possibly aggravated when there are also manual entries. TT is working to resolve the problem -- with a fix date of 2/26/21.

Note to Turbotax: wouldn't it have been useful to post a notice of the known problem? That would have avoided the many calls you have received on this problem -- and saved the time and aggravation of those who encountered it.
